Recert Countdown: A Last-Quarter CME and Exam Game Plan

If your recertification deadline is in the last quarter and you’re feeling the pressure, the fix is a plan, not panic. Broken into steps, the final stretch is very manageable — even if you’re starting later than you’d like.

First, audit your CME. Log into your NCCPA account and see exactly where you stand: how many Category 1 hours you have, how many you still need, and your logging deadline. Knowing the real number replaces a vague dread with a concrete target. If there’s a meaningful gap, one course can close most of it — the PANRE Review Course is 100 hours of AAPA Category 1 CME on its own.

Second, prep and log at the same time. Rather than treating exam study and CME as separate tasks, work through the course’s 1,200 questions and 5 mock exams — the studying earns the credit. Prioritize your weak content areas first (take a mock exam to find them), and let the strong areas take less of your time.

Third, protect your allowance. If you have employer CME funds that expire with the calendar year, the optional $100–$1,500 Amazon or Apple gift-card add-on lets you spend the balance on this purchase and keep the value. Don’t leave it on the table.

Finally, taper. In the last week, take a final mock for pacing, review high-yield areas lightly, confirm your logistics, and rest. You want to arrive sharp, not depleted. A last quarter run this way gets you certified and confident. The course is $499.99 for 30 months.
