A reference tool is something you open when a patient is in front of you. An orientation is something you move through, in order, until you can do the job on your own. EMtopia and UCtopia were built to be both. The playbooks, videos, and calculators work as a bedside reference. The Bootcamp tier arranges them into a structured track that takes a new PA or NP from the first week of orientation to independent practice, with a way to show they got there.
Bootcamp unlocks the phases in sequence and pairs them with a weekly plan that matches how a typical 8 to 12 week orientation unfolds. The first two weeks focus on systems and survival: how the department or clinic runs, how to present a patient, and how to stay safe while you are still learning where everything is. The middle weeks work through the common chief complaints. The final stretch covers the high-risk syndromes, when a new clinician has enough footing to take them on. UCtopia adds a procedures phase for the urgent care setting.
Phase quizzes. Each phase ends with a quiz, and each question is followed immediately by the answer and rationale, so learning happens in the moment rather than at the end.
Case simulations. Short cases branch on the learner’s choices, such as whether to order the CT, whether to call the physician, or whether to discharge. Feedback comes at every branch. This is the part of Bootcamp that most resembles a shift, and the part learners tell us they remember.
Landmine drills. Rapid review of the traps from every playbook, using spaced repetition so the ones a learner misses come back until they stick.
Final assessment and certificate of completion. A comprehensive assessment at the end of the track, followed by a certificate the clinician can hand to their director or add to a credentialing file.
Progress dashboard. Phase completion, quiz scores, and weak topics in one place, so the learner knows where to focus.
Preceptor check-off sheet. A printable list of every topic with columns for discussed, observed, and independent. It turns the app into the orientation record many departments still keep on paper.
Model documentation notes. Example charts for the common complaints, showing what a complete and defensible note looks like.
Individual Bootcamp access is a one-time purchase with permanent access: EMtopia Bootcamp is $299, UCtopia Bootcamp is $249, and the EMtopia + UCtopia Bootcamp Bundle is $449 for clinicians who work in both settings. Departments and urgent care groups can enroll their clinicians through annual site licenses, which we will cover in the next post.
Bootcamp is a good fit for a new graduate starting their first emergency or urgent care job, a clinician moving into a new specialty, or anyone whose orientation is shorter or less structured than they would like. It is also a practical way to prepare in the weeks between accepting a job and starting it.
The free test drive includes sample Bootcamp content from every section, so you can try the quizzes and cases before you decide.
