If you work shifts in the ED, hospital medicine, or urgent care, your CME time may come in short, unpredictable blocks. A live conference can be difficult to fit around patient care and staffing. Enduring material offers another option: complete approved educational content on your own schedule, without attending at a set time.
Here’s what that format means for AAPA Category 1 CME, how to keep self-paced study on track, and how the PANRE course’s paid gift card add-on works.
Course logistics: $499.99 · 30 months of access · 2,500+ board-style practice questions across 15 body-system modules mapped to the NCCPA PANRE Blueprint · five 240-question mock exams (1,200 questions total) with per-question rationales and cited sources · 10+ hours of high-yield video lectures with downloadable slides · PANRE Readiness Dashboard with attempted-versus-correct tracking, topic breakdowns, question flagging, unlimited retakes, and an “on track to pass” indicator at 75%+ · up to 100 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. A money-back guarantee applies to eligible full-course purchasers who do not pass on their first attempt; see the terms.
AAPA recognizes enduring material as a Category 1 CME format. Unlike a live conference or scheduled webinar, an enduring activity is completed independently, without a fixed participation time or location. It may include online learning content, recorded lectures, readings, interactive questions, and an assessment. AAPA’s overview of Category 1 CME for enduring material explains the format and accreditation context.
For this PANRE review, the designated activity is “Comprehensive Clinical Review for Practicing PAs: 2026–27 Enduring CME Activity,” PANRE Clinical Review Module. Its AAPA reference number is CME-2016187, with approval valid August 26, 2026, to August 26, 2027. The PANRE module offers up to 100 AAPA Category 1 CME credits.
That distinction matters: the 100 credits apply to the PANRE Clinical Review Module, not automatically to every course or product offered by CME Review Courses. The course includes online review content and a post-test. To earn credit, review all module content, score 70% or higher on the post-test, and complete the activity evaluation. Missed questions may be retaken to reach a passing score. After completion, your certificate states the precise credit earned. Claim only credit commensurate with your actual participation.
Self-paced CME can fit around a changing workweek. You can study without travel, arranging shift coverage, or logging in for a webinar at a fixed hour. If your CME time comes in uneven chunks, you can return to the material when your schedule allows.
The course provides 30 months of access, but access time is not a reason to leave the work until the last minute. Self-paced learning has a trade-off: nobody else is setting your study dates or holding you accountable. A course purchased now can become a task you keep postponing.
One practical approach is to anchor your CME plan to a real date, such as your NCCPA cycle end or state license renewal, and work backward. Set small weekly or monthly targets just as you would when preparing for a PANRE date. Also note that this activity’s current approval period is listed as August 26, 2026, to August 26, 2027. If you expect to complete the activity after that period, check the product page for current accreditation information before relying on the credit.
NCCPA requires 100 CME credits in each two-year cycle, including at least 50 Category 1 credits. A completed 100-credit Category 1 module can cover the bulk, and potentially the full credit total, of that cycle, subject to your eligibility, cycle dates, and NCCPA requirements. Confirm your own details on the NCCPA CME requirements page.
The gift card option is a paid add-on, not a free gift. At checkout, select an Amazon or Apple gift card tier from $100 to $1,500. Its cost is added to the course price, so the course and selected gift card are charged together in one transaction. Check your employer’s CME policy before purchasing to confirm that this type of expense is eligible under your allowance.
The gift card is emailed within 2–3 business days of purchase; you do not need to finish the course first. That timing pairs naturally with enduring material: the gift card can arrive well before you complete the self-paced CME. Gift card packages are nonrefundable, and CME Review Courses is not affiliated with Amazon or Apple.
The PANRE Review Course with Gift Card combines exam review with an AAPA Category 1 CME activity. Its question bank includes 15 body-system modules, with the Hematology module containing 66 questions. The course also includes five full-length mock exams, downloadable slides, video lectures, and a dashboard for tracking strengths and gaps. You can test drive the PANRE review course free to explore a sample before deciding.
The content may also be useful to clinicians comparing PANCE prep courses or broader exam-review options, but this particular module is intended for PANRE review and its stated CME activity.
Nurse practitioners: AAPA Category 1 acceptance for NP license renewal varies by state. Verify with your state board of nursing before purchase. Physicians: The activity meets AAPA Category 1 requirements, but physicians generally log this activity as Category 2 CME rather than Category 1.
Your 68-year-old patient reports fatigue. Her laboratory results show hemoglobin 10.2 g/dL, MCV 72 fL, ferritin 12 ng/mL, low serum iron, and elevated TIBC. What is the most likely diagnosis?
A. Anemia of chronic disease
B. Thalassemia trait
C. Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency
D. Iron deficiency anemia
Correct answer: D. Iron deficiency anemia. A ferritin below 15 ng/mL is essentially diagnostic of iron deficiency, including when a patient may also have inflammation. The low serum iron and elevated TIBC support the diagnosis.
Practical note: Ferritin is an acute-phase reactant. In a patient with rheumatoid arthritis or another chronic inflammatory condition, a “normal” ferritin can obscure iron deficiency. If the clinical picture still points to deficiency, an iron trial, or, less commonly, assessment of marrow iron, may help resolve the uncertainty.
This pattern is covered in the course’s 66-question Hematology module. It is the smallest body-system module, but iron-study interpretation is a classic board question and a useful opportunity to secure straightforward points.
